Dastango - Darain Shahidi, Mahmood Farooqui & others

As part of Pakistan India People's Forum for Peace & Democracy (PIPFPD) India Chapter, Team Dastangoi presented this dastan. Dastan-e-Taqseem-e-Hind or the Partition Tale is a melange of literature around partition of India, archival material, news reportage, documentaries, excerpts from academic monographs, personal memoirs, and poetry, interwoven and bound by our narrative. The Partition Tale was first commissioned by Urvashi Butalia of Zubaan Books in 2007 to commemorate the sixtieth year of this horrific incident in the history of Indian sub-continent. We liberally take material from Krishan Chander, Rahi Masoom Raza, Faiz Ahmed Faiz, Manto, Ghulam Rabbani Taban, Amrita Pritam, Vazira Fazila-Yacoobali Zamindar, Intizar Hussain, Mir Anees, et al, besides archival material and personal memoirs like Begum Anis Kidwai's "Azadi ki Chhaon Mein."
